Identifying the Best Produce

The stickers that appear on almost all fruits contain codes for the check-out clerk, but they also contain information that you should know. The numbers on the stickers can tell you how the fruit was grown, and frequently, the country of origin of the fruit. This is helpful to know when you are trying to select organic and non-GMO produce or to avoid fruits grown in countries where the pesticide regulations are...

Cleaning and Storing Fresh Produce

The successful management of the kitchen through organization is essential. This will streamline meal preparation, encourage the use of whole fresh foods, and will facilitate variety in the meals with less time and effort. Make Room: The first step is to clean out your refrigerator. Make a shopping list for a weekly trip to the store. Make room for organization of newly bought items.

Eating Healthy Fats

Good fats are critical to your health. Low/and no fat diets are out (and were never healthy*). Replace animal and trans fats with healthy fats. Monounsaturated fats (MUFA) with oleic acid (OA) are excellent. Olive oil has shown to be a deterrent to breast cancer and also inhibits the growth of candida. Organic clarified butter or ghee is very stable for heating. Avocado, almonds, macadamia nuts, and filberts also contain OA.

Digestion Starts in the Mouth

What you eat is important, but if you don’t digest it you don’t get the necessary nutrients from your foods. The most complicated foods for the body to digest are carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are any food that is not a fat or a protein and includes grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits, nuts, seeds, sugar, starches, herbs, spices, etc.

Do You Have Enough Stomach Acid?

Healthy people with strong digestive function do not need more HCL (stomach acid). Unfortunately, in today’s world of high stress, fast and processed foods, antibiotic use, prescription, and over the counter drug side effects, many people have a deficient supply of HCL. Strong, healthy digestive function plays a foundational role in determining a person’s state of wellbeing and health.

Ways to Increase Stomach Acid Production

Having enough HCL (hydrochloric acid or stomach acid) is critical for good digestion and immune health. Without adequate HCL food is incompletely digested and failure of assimilation occurs so that we become vitamin and especially mineral deficient. When a person starts to eat the stomach is stimulated to start producing HCL. The HCL activates the chief cells in the middle portion of the stomach to start ...

Soaking Nuts and Seeds for Better Digestion

Soaking seeds, nuts and legumes (any plant that grows seeds in a pod such as peas and beans) before cooking, baking or eating them initiates the sprouting process which neutralizes enzyme inhibitors and removes phytates (phytic acid) found in whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans and legumes. Phytates block absorption of minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, etc., and most of all zinc, ...

Soaking Grains for Better Digestion

These are the easiest grains to digest because they contain less phytates than other grains, and all but quinoa are free of gluten. Actually buckwheat is a grass and millet and quinoa are more seed-like than they are a grain. These grains are soaked for 7-8 hours (a longer time is okay too), with enough warm non-chlorinated water to cover, to which 1 tablespoon of acidic medium has been added for every cup of ...

Soaking Beans for Better Digestion

Soaking or sprouting beans (any plant that grows seeds in a pod such as peas and beans) before cooking makes them more digestible and initiates the sprouting process. The sprouting process neutralizes enzyme inhibitors and removes phytates (phytic acid), which block the absorption of minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, etc., and most of all zinc, in the intestinal tract. These minerals ...

Preparing for Diagnostic Medical Tests Involving Electromagnetic Radiation

Medical testing that involves exposure to radiation (both ionizing and non ionizing) presents the body with a stress that can be prepared for. Susceptibility to infection and a weakened immune response is intensified by this concentrated exposure to various electromagnetic fields. Taking a precautionary approach to strengthen and help the body withstand these medical tests is a smart thing to do ...

Airplane and Travel Precautions

Some people say that they seem to get sick after going on a vacation or on a trip. There can be many reasons for this especially if the travel involves riding on an airplane. Airline travel presents the body with a myriad of stressors that can be prepared for. For example a recent study published in the Journal of Environmental Health Research states that you might be 100 times more likely to catch a cold or flu ...

Blood Type, Genotype, and Secretor Test

Eating according to your blood type is helpful for balancing pH and also gives increased resistance to EMF’s. If trying to heal from chronic illness, take pressure off the kidneys and liver, or just want to be in top shape, I recommend streamlining healing by focusing on beneficial foods for your blood type. There is a chemical interaction between your blood type and the foods you eat. The lectins, which are proteins found ...

Chemical Injury to the Lungs

Chemical injury to the lungs can result in an imbalance in the gases involved in respiration, carbon dioxide and oxygen. After chemical injury to the lungs, the lungs many times go into a chronic state of hyperventilation, constantly breathing 2-3 times more than the metabolic need. This disturbs the body pH and the smooth muscle function, which can result in lung dysfunction. This lung dysfunction ...
